CHRISTINA MCFA RL AND Staff Writer INTERNET PHOTO Rod (Joey Fatone) gives Kevin (Lance Bass) a hard time about his bad luck with women. ELENA BORYSKA Sports Editor In the romantic comedy “On the Line”, ‘N Sync’s resident nice guy Lance Bass plays a shy businessman trying to find his true love. The movie follows the struggles of advertising agent Kevin Gibbons (the multi-talented Bass) as he tries to over come the confidence issues that have been with him since high school. Gib bons, who has a history of girl prob lems (mostly due to the fact that he’s too chicken to make the first move), finds himself on the “L” train with his dream girl (newcomer Emmanuelle Chriqui). After having an amazing con versation with her, he almost gets up the guts to ask for her name and phone number, but instead thanks her for a nice commute and lets her get away. The rest of the movie is spent trying to track her down, which turns out to be pretty difficult since he knows virtu Aries (March 21- April 19): All good things must come to an end. Something you treasure in your life will soon be gone. Do not despair, it is for the best. Remember, change is the essence of life. Your theme song this week: “Perfect Stranger” by the Dropkick Murphies. Taurus (April 20- May 20): Keep your chin up and don’t let the holi day blues get you down. If you do not suffer from wretchedness of the holiday sort, get busy spread ing your joy to others around you. Your theme song this week: “You Gotta’ Die For Your Government” by Antiflag. Gemini (May 21-June 20): You are about to experience something that could very well be the most electrifying thing you have ever ally nothing about her. Bass did a wonderful job as the lead in this movie, espec ial ly considering that it was his first major acting role. He has had a guest appearance in the television show ‘7th Heaven” and a don’t-blink-you’ll-miss-him cameo in “Zoolander,” but even with this lim ited acting experience, he was very believable as the sensitive and charm ing Gibbons. Starring in the movie along with Bass is another member of ‘N Sync, Joey Fatone. Falone was great as Gib bons’ obnoxious, and at times gross, wannabe rock star friend, although I have a feeling that the part wasn’t much of a stretch for him to play. Fel low ‘NSyncers Justin Timberlake and Chris Kirkpatrick (you knew they’d show up sometime) also make brief appearances at the end as hair and makeup artists. Their poking fun at themselves and Kirkpatrick’s French accent are hilarious and make a great addition to this movie. Besides the boys from ‘N Sync, this movie also co- stars Chriqui as the “L” train girt, GQ and James Bulliard, who play Gibbons’ friends, and Jerry Stiller, Dave Foley and Tamala Jones as Gibbons’ colleagues. Al Green also makes an appearance as himself. Overall, the acting in this movie is not too bad. But there are times when you almost wish that they had redone a scene because it wasn’t quite up to par. If you think that this movie sounds a little on the cheesy side, you’re right But that is one of the good things about it. With the almost complete lack of swearing, sex and violence, this movie is way below the level of Hollywood vulgarity that many moviegoers have come to expect But “On the Line” is a good choice for anybody who is look ing for a sweet charming romance that does not include Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. done. CaptainLeo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) is aboard the ship Oberon on a mission to navi gate untraveled territory in the gal axy. The crew is training chimpan zees and other apes to operate space crafts so they can enter the possibly dangerous areas before humans do. When one of the chimps is released into space and contact is lost Leo makes the rash decision to go out af ter him. Leo discovers the cosmic force that destroyed radio contact be tween his chimp and the Oberon. His craft begins to malfunction, and he finds himself crash-landing on an un known planet With his ship at the bottom of a lake, he swims to shore relatively un harmed. However, he is greeted by a flock of nomadic people fleeing from an unknown threat So, naturally Leo follows only to discover the people are running to escape a group of apes looking capture them. Leo, along with the majority of the others, are shack led and placed in a caged cart drawn by harnessed humans, used as horses. When he arrives in “town,” he finds it is the apes that live as hu mans do today, and humans have been sold into slavery. They are song this week: “Room Without a Window” by Operation Ivy. Capricorn (December 22- January 19): Avoid eating poultry at all costs. In fact, you should probably avoid meat products in general. Actually, you should not eat anything but rye bread for at least two weeks. Also, buy a new vacuum cleaner. Your theme song this week: “Take the Reins” by Tsunami Bomb. Aquarius (January 20-February 18): bought and traded like cattle. Luckily, he and a beautiful nomadic woman named Daena (Estella Warren)are pur chased by an ape named Ari (Helena Bonham Carter), who believes hu mans are intelligent and should be treated as equals. Ari is adored by General Thade (Tim Roth), the most evil ape on the planet. However, his demeanor and ignorance disgust her. In my opinion, Ari be gins to fall in love with Leo after he and Daena escape Ari’s father’s household. Accompanied by ahouse slave, Leo, Daena, and Ari begin their quest to find Daena’s family and get Leo home. Their destination is the “forbidden zone, “ where the apes’ history and secrets are held. When the party reaches the zone, Leo finds that the zone is actually the remains of the Oberon. Leo has traveled forward through time to the planet of the apes. It was the chimps on board that overthrew the humans after the crash. Now Leo and the nomadic people must find a way to defeat the apes or live in peace together, but how? . Ireally enjoyed this film, but I have always loved science-fiction films. Al though I have not seen the original, 1 feel I was still able to appreciate the film. So regardless of whether you’ve seen the original “Planet of the Apes” or not, I’d definitely recommend see- ing this one. You have something in your pos session that is coveted by many. You should do one of two things wife this item. A) Lock it away in a dark room guarded by Dobermans so.no one can take it from you; or B) make it into a necklace and wear it around all the time, flaunting your highly sought-after object like a Christmas tree ornament. Your theme song this week: ”0i to the World” by the Vandals. Pisces (February 19-March 20): Ex pect to meet a special person this week.
