Cougar men are # 1
With first place bragging rights on the line, the Cougars win a
tough battle against the Titans from Lane Community College

Staff Writter
The Cougars proved they are
the number one basketball team in
the Southern Region as they blew
out the Lane Titans Monday night
at home.
After defeating Portland Com
munity College 100-83 last
Wednesday, and dismantling Linn-
Benton 100-75 at home Saturday,
Clackamas claimed the Southern
Division title and a first place seed
with a 86-73 win over Lane Com
munity College.
Both Lane and Clackamas had
12-2 league records going into
Monday’s playoff bout for first
place in the NWAACC Southern
Division. Also at stake were seeds
in the NWAACC championship.
A loss would have put the Cou
gars in the same bracket as
Edmonds, who leads the North
Division and Tacoma, the West
ern Division leaders. Now Lane
will play these two teams to ad
vance and Clackamas should have
an easier time as they match up
with teams in the Eastern Division.
“We played very well. We came
out with the most energy and in-
tensity. I think we are the best team
