The Pacific Northwest College of
Art (PNCA) is presenting an exhibit
by members of its faculty, and they
will be displayed in Pauling through
Dec. 8 of this year.
The exhibit consists of art by 27
different faculty artists. The event
showcases the different styles of
the college’s art faculty.
“So each of their artists repre
sents their own... that piece rep
resents their style,” said Rick True,
art department chair.
The pieces range from acrylic
painting to sculptures and prints,
with styles as diverse as their media.
The gallery features quite varying
pieces, like the very photorealistic 12
Interpretations of the Self II; Ideo
gram, a representational painting and
A Mortal Bed, a visually literal, but
conceptually abstract conte, which
is a kind of hard crayon made of
graphite and clay.
It includes such artists as
sculptor Bill Moore and painter
Paul Missal, with each artist hav
ing one or two pieces on display.
PNCA has grown to be a well-
known and respected college
overits 100 years of teaching. Ac
cording to True, a lot of the best
art instructors in the area teach
there.
This event is to promote inter
est in the PNCA and showcase
their instructors’ ability, since
some students go there after they
complete their training at
Clackamas
In the future, True plans to
have other colleges, such as
Lewis and Clark of Marylhurst,
exhibited at Clackamas.
