What is it about parties that
makes you just want to kick your
shoes off and let your hair down?
Here’s my dance-til-I-drop ac
count of my most recent party
experience.
8:00 p.m. Time to start getting
ready. I’m supposed to be at the
party at around 10 p.m. I slip into
a pair of flare jeans, a tank top
and flip flops. (Tip: Be sure to'
wear something comfortable to
allow for movement. When de
termining wardrobe, take into
consideration where you are go
ing and what you'll be doing.)
9:00 p.m. Called my friend Ty to
see if She was ready. Called Jay
to make sure party was still a go.
(Tip: Bring a friend just in case
the party is a total wash-out, at
least you have someone to talk
to. Tip: Double-check plans, you
could show up and no one’s
there.)
9:15 p.m. Left my house to pick
up Ty on McLoughlin.
10:00 p.m. Arrived at
Ty’s apartment as she
ing because Randy said one of
them looked like a bird and I just
couldn’t get that picture out of
my head.
12:30 a.m. Some people started
leaving. Everyone was
getting a little tipsy by this
time. 1 had only one Coors
Light because I like to drink
in moderation to enjoy the
effect more. One of the
guys, Reuben, was. kind of
like our d.j—he was whip

Yes, shake that booty..
Reuben made a drink he
named a Smurf. He added
Everclear, vodka and blue
kool-aid. It tasted all right,
(Tip: Don’t mix a whole
pack of kool-aid to vodka,
soda and juice or you’ll be hurt

evening.)

says hick boy wants her. So,
go for it, if you want to. She

11:15 p.m. A guy named Randy
met us outside. He asked us who
we knew at the party and how
we got invited. Well, I was in
vited by Jay. I used to work with
him at the local mill. I, in turn,
invited Ty. He asked about our
interests.
Then the subject of
engagement came up. I swear
every guy I’ve talked to asks if I
have a boyfriend or if I’ve ever
been engaged. Yes, I have, no
we’re not together anymore. No,
I don’t want another steady rela
tionship. Any other questions?
(Tips: Ask questions—how else
will you get to know people?)
11:45 p.m. Jay Came out to talk
to us. Wow, I swear the party
was moving outside. I answered

were they? I figure they prob
ably stopped for a quickie.
Where’s Ty? She’s disappeared.
So has Troy. Wow, that wasn ’ta
good sign. Well actually I guess
it depends on how you look at it.
She’s a big girl and she can
handle herself. Jay pulled me into
the kitchen and asked if he could
kiss me. That’s interestingi I’ve
never been asked— most guys

because it was a sweet request.
(Tip: Ever hear the song, “It’s in
his kiss”; you get the point.)
2:30 a.m. Still no sign of Ty. The
music is bumping and I thought
for sure cops would show up at
any minute. No, five-os present
to go. He said he’d take me
home. It’s my car I said, I have
to go. He kissed me again and
then I left.
4:15 a.m. Ty and I were in my
car and I was driving her home
and asked her what happened.
She said Troy was really drunk
and she was going to do the
deed, but Jiminy Cricket came
back to haunt her. Damn, and I
