Barry is the author of 17 books, including several antholo gies of articles on topics ranging from house repair to turning 40. He is a columnist for the Miami Herald and is syndicated nation ally, including the Oregonian “Living” section. The book begins with the words “Never read the instruc tions” and continues on to cover topics including hardware, error messages, the purpose of DOS and select Internet sites: “Proof civilization is doomed.” Barry has shown once again his ability to make us laugh at things that are confusing to the average person. “The function of RAM is to give guys a way of deciding whose computer has the biggest, studliest, most tumescent memory. Many I critics said fans would I not like it compared to I “Independence Day.” if you compare it to I Well, “ID4,” it will come up short but, as sci-fi movies go, this one is I very good. It is rated PG- I 13 and is full of good- I natured science fiction. I The movie has some I good effects and an I interesting plot. The plot l[ is that aliens are already here and are trying to take our planet away from us. Grade B. Go got IL I I The Star Wars Trilogy I I is I now out of print on Go get your copy I video. at your local video store li before they sell out Why is it going out of print? Well, because the new I J Star Wars Special I I Editions will be in 1 1 theaters this January. L “Star Wars” will premiere on Jan. 31,1997, “The Empire Strikes Back” will premiere on Feb. 21 and “Return of The Jedi” will premiere on Mar. 7. Go buy the original before it is gone forever or you will be sorry. Grade:A+ of course!! Watch IL The “Long Kiss Goodnight” starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson has not been making lots of money at the box office, but it is a seriously funny and entertaining movie. Geena Davis is an ex-FBI agent who has lost her memory and Samuel L. Jackson is the private detective hired to find her past. This leads them on a merry chase involving many good lines by Samuel L. Jackson and a lot of bad guys dying. Overall, “The Long Kiss Goodnight” is a fun ride through mindless entertainment. Grade B. Go buy it The success of the movie “Romeo and Juliet” can be seen in the box office totals over the last three weeks. (“Romeo and Juliet” has grossed almost $20 million.) Both noncomputer people and computer “geeks” should enjoy this book thoroughly. I give this book an A+. Independence Day Home Page Portland. The soundtrack I features Everclear, I Garbage, Radiohead and I The Butthole Surfers. I Just like the movie, the I soundtrack is very I aggressive and a load of I fun. If you can find it, I I would recommend picking it up as soon as I I possible. Grade A+. I I I I The movie “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” I starring Vai Kilmer and I Marlon Brando, will be I coming to video in the I next few months but do I not waste your time and I money on it. The original plot for Dr. Moreau was I I very interesting to me but, somehow the movie I just came off wrong. Vai I Kilmer’s part was very I forced and Marlon I Brando was basically I making a fool of himself I by wearing white chalk I all over his body in one I scene. This movie was I heralded as the sci-fi I event of the summer. I Well, don’t waste your I time; go watch the real I sci-fi event of the summer, “ID4.” Grade D-.
