Clackamas women’s softball
went 3-1 over the weekend with
wins over Southwestern Commu
nity College (SWOCC) and
Lower Columbia CC.
On Friday the Cougars
played a doubleheader at home
against SWOCC. The game was
expected to be a rain out but
started on time after four hours
of field preparation.
Clackamas won the first
game 4-1 in 10 innings.
Head Coach Paul Fiskum felt
the Cougars weren’t as ready as
they normally are. “We didn’t
have our best day. We weren’t as
mentally sharp as we have been
most of this year,” said Fiskum.
The score was tied 1-1 until
the tenth inning. The Cougars
won the game in the bottom of the
tenth inning with a three-run
homer by Lisa Gander.
Robin Voil went 3-5 includ
ing a single, double and a triple,
including a run in the fifth inning.
Lisa Gander went 4 of 5 includ
ing two singles, a double and a
home run.
Robin Lisak pitched the first
game. She gave up one run, al
lowed only eight base hits and
struck out five players. Lisak’s
record went 10-0.
Clackamas lost the second
game 6-2 against SWOCC.
The Cougars went 2-0 in the
first inning but were unable to
score in the final six innings.
“This is the game where we
just didn’t feel we were very
sharp. We just couldn’t get any
thing going,” explained Fiskum.
“We made a couple of critical er
rors in big innings.”
Kriss Demos went 2-3 and
Denise Haselwood got a double
and 2 RBIs.
Gander pitched the game
which was her first loss, giving
her a record of 5-1.
On Sunday the Cougars
played a doubleheader against
Lower Columbia College at
Clackamas. Clackamas had no
errors in the two games. The Cou
gars won the first game 1-0.
Denise Haselwood had the
only run of the game on a single
by Demos in the second inning.
Lisak pitched a nearly perfect
game with one base hit by LCCC.
“Robin Lisak pitched her best
game,” said Fiskum.
The Cougars went on to win
the second game 8-2.
In the third inning Clacka
mas got six runs on four base hits.
Lisa Gander got 3 RBIs on a home
run. Scott went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Bile and Menzia added a RBI
apiece.
Fiskum felt that staying fo
cused was very important during
bad weather and other distrac
tions. “It was a hard week be
cause of all the rain, to stay fo
cused,” Fiskum said.
“Defense has stayed sharp...
one of the harder things to do
when practicing indoors,” added
Fiskum.
Brenda Ruppel, who has sat
out the last 10 games because of
an injury, hopes to return on Fri
day against South Puget Sound.
Clackamas will also play Green
River on Tuesday, at Mount Hood
on Thursday and at Longview on
Sunday.

“We think it was a great ball
game,” said Head Coach Robin
Robinson. The final score of 9-1
declared the Cougars the winners
over the Lane Titans.
In the second game of the
doubleheader, Clackamas took an
