The purpose of Boyer's article was not o re-acknowledge this "general" use. The purpose was o eal with the situation of an athlete using an ampheta mine before participating in athletic competition. The article was not intended as an attack on the athletic department. It identified a problem on campus through factual reporting. It is unfortunate that some persons mistakenly in terpreted the article as a direct charge. , Indian givers The recent introduction in the Oregon state legislature of a measure to repeal Oregon's ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) may be the grossest example of regressive legislation in this state's history. The introduction was requested by Rep. Drew Davis, D-Portland, and Rep. Jack Sumner, D-Heppner. Davis said he introduced the bill at the request of several constituents because those who want it reconsidered should be heard. We seriously doubt that opponents of this legislation ever got a chance to speak their mind when the amend ment was originally passed, and we question the validity of this measure. My initial reaction was an amused one for the article com many inaccurate statements and it was a classic exampleol investigative reporting and the misuse of statistics. I am certain that we have students in nearly all depart that have used, or are using "drugs" of some kind. HavingobS individuals using speed and being familiar with its effectonphj performance and emotional response, it would have beennea possible for members of our football team to use it in thenui purported by Boyer in any game or practice situation being apparent that something was up. Furthermore, numerous football players approachedm upset with the inaccuracies of the article. I was also badly misquoted by Boyer.
