Spoon River : ideals, dreams and realities "Spoon River Anthology," written by Edgar Lee Masters and currently being pro duced by Clackamas County Repertory Theater, is an excellent conglomeration of ideals, dreams, and realities of Spoon River - «■ a small town of Appalachia. A cemetery is the setting for the por trayal of some seventy-five characters by the twelve players. The play plunges, with ■I! out delay, into the dialogue and poetry of Masters' including many revealing songs and some down to earth square dancing. These separate types of expression are superbly woven into a fine production of the ups and downs of typical small town life. The different testimonies of each char acter range in content from murder to adul tery to comedy. The entire cast gives a superb performance with a special treat - Billy Rod Ragsdale, one of the players, has five of his original songs included throughout the play. Every member of the cast does a phenomenal job of switching from one character to another. "Spoon River Anthology" is a complete showcase of the uncertainties and troubles of typical rural America in the early twen tieth century. The production will be show ing through Feb. 12, at McLoughlin Theater, Friday and Saturday nights. [Spoon River Anthology cast members Bob Reed, left, Brian Puckett, center, and Millard Friday, Feb. 4, CCRT is charging only actors perform their multiple-casted parts.
