Entertainment Experience shines through in “ Fanny’s First Play” by Marie Stoppelmoor Feature Editor After seeing “Fanny’s First Play” Friday, as acted by the CCC Theatre, one has to com ment on the professionalism of the theatre staff. In contrast to the first play of the season, the actors have had more experience working together. This experience shone through with well timed lines and scene change that required precision and came off perfect - iy. The two-act play takes a shot at the sheltered propriety of the middle class in the early 1900’s. The moral of the play is “do something that will get you in trouble.” Two families, the Knoxs’ (played by Robert Ems & Lorain Collins) and the Gilbeys’ (played by David Gloden and Charisse Smithe) guard their propriety by having their children become engaged. After one wild weekend which ends with both Fanny Knox (played by Lisa Hartens- tein) and Bobby Gilbey (played by Andre Garettson) in jail, the kids become rebels with a cause; neither wants to get married. While the aristocratic butler, Jug gins (played by Rich Burroughs) tries to keep the Stalwart families calm, Dora Delaney, (played by Linda Kuntz) a less than timid young lady and Duvallet (played by David Harvey) a french soldier, return to shake things up a bit more. Eventually the parents resign themselves to a “young people today” philosophy, and happy endings all around. The props were a noticeable bonus to the play with furniture, decor, and clothing that lent to the mood of the early 1900’s. Special thanks to David Gloden for an excellent perfor mance.
