Feature Back in the Environmental Learning Center, nestled in the greenery, is the Art Center. This is where some Clackamas Com munity College students learn to “express themselves through their art.” In the interest of sharing their art with the rest of the campus, the art students are holding a students art exhibit in the Pauling Gallery. The show will run through June 3. Thoughts on art from some of the students in the exhibit: Cindy Peterson “I’ve been an artist all my ife. I’ve been studying here for ;he last two years. I love :eramics and sculpting. Sculpting has so many mediums, you can use anything... anything, to sculpt. It’s interesting to hear how peo ple interpret my sculpture. One piece I did, everyone interpreted it differently. It’s also very flat tering when someone likes your art enough to buy it.” Janice Price Art students express themselves “What made me decide to be an artist? It’s just what I’ve always wanted to do and finally in my mid-life crisis that’s what I decided to do and I’m doing it. I will be transferring to Marylhurst to get my degree in Art Therapy. Art Therapy is for people who can’t relate in words what has happened, but through art you can see what die problem is. I want to work in the prison system.” Beverly Prettyman “I did not decide to be an ar tist; it was not a conscious deci sion. I like being able to express myself through art. Painting is my favorite. I like sculpture too. I’m mainly interested in figures. I just want to add that the in structors are just terrific (in the art center). They are Very sup portive.” Student Going to McDonald s* is almost as much a part of school as going to class. %u’ve made us the place to meet , to talk, to have a good time, to celebrate your victories and help forget defeats^ You’ve made McDonald’s more than^ just another place to eat.
