The audience had thri
favorites. Pamela McConnell, <
the very critical Mrs. Boyle, wi
one. She projected her voice wi
and added some humor to tl
scene. The audience loved Rii
Burrough’s characterization i
the young, eccentric Christoph
Wren.' He prompted mat
laughs, as did Deborah Hun
phrey’s portrayal of Mmi
Paravicini. Her Italian accent w
convincing.
The set was cleverly design!
by David Smith-English. It ii
eludes an entry, some stairs, ai
two doors which supposedly lea
to other rooms. The fumishin|
have to accommodate seven ca
members at a given time. It is ea
dent that a great deal of work w
involved in the construction.
The costumes, by Merril Lyn
Taylor, add much to ea<
character study.
“The Mousetrap” opened at
Clackamas Community College’s
McLoughlin Theatre last Thurs
day and caught the audience’s at
tention from beginning to end.
The play by English
playwright, Agatha Christie, is
set in a small country inn, not far
from London. It opens with the
arrival of guests during a snow
storm and the discussion of a re
cent murder in the town nearby.
Then one of the guests is also
murdered and suspicion is
pointed in many directions.
Unless you are familiar with the
plot, it is doubtful that you’ll be
able to predict the outcome.
The quality of the performance
was appreciated by the audience.
The play was well attended and
the applause was enthusiastic.
Overheard comments were, “It
was every bit as good as they said
it was,” and “We watch so much
T.V., it’s good to see something
different,”
“It was every bit as goo
Charisse Smith and Brett True as they said it was. ”
Branch portray Mollie and Giles
Ralston, owners of Monkswell
Manor. Carey Katherine
Rausch’s part is the aloof Miss
Casewell, Detective Sgt. Trotter
