Athletes prepare for spring sports season

The Cougars are competing
this year in a league which in
cludes Clark, Lower Colum
bia, Tacoma, and Green River
Community Colleges. They
will also be going up against
such schools as Linfield,
Western Oregon State College,
Willamette University, Lewis
and Clark, and Portland State
University. In addition, the
Cougars will be spending a
week playing several matches
in California to start off the
season.

season. Included in the spring
sports program at Clackamas
is baseball, golf, mens and
womens track, as well as mens

athletes involved with these
sports have been practicing
diligently in preparation for

year as only one athlete, Jim
Hogue, returns from last years
team.
Hogue is a long distance
runner who also competes in
cross country during th© fall
sports season. Also from the
fall cross country team are
Rob Durkee, Mark Allen and
Jeff Darling, who will be run
ning the long distance races
for the Cougar track team.
Also competing for the
Cougars will be Tony
Aldridge. Aldridge returns to
the team after a two year
break from track and field at
Clackamas. Coach Monroe
describes Aldridge as, “A hell
of an athlete,” in the events of
Javelin and the hammer
throw.
Monroe also looks for some
good performances from
freshman Chris Orblum.
Orblum, from Clackamas
High School, will be par
ticipating in the long jump, tri
ple jump and the 100 meter
dash. In addition, Monroe is
looking for some good finishes
from the long distance run
ners.

Troy Rutledge, Jim Bradshaw,
Jim Zauner, Jeff Johnson and
Robert Young.
