Soccer team loses to Lane Community 0-7 By Christine Warner Of the Print The Clackamas Community College soccer team, coached by Janos Szanto, is determin ed to have a great year, pro bably the best ever. With seven returning and 12 new players, “We’ve got the team,’’ second-year player Brian Gorsek said. “When we get the teamwork together, we’ll be unstoppable.” After practicing for only two weeks before their first game last Wednesday, the team lost to Lane Community College 0-7. Lane had been practicing about five weeks Strong points for the tea include the ability to get alon with one another and the wi variety of individual talent. The weak points for th team is the lack of teamwor and a weaker midfield, bu with practice and communic tion these are expected to im prove. Second-year player Ric Tounsand summed up th team when he said, “the en thusiasm of the young and ex perience of the older player Th should help us very much. C and had also played in a tour nament shortly before playing Clackamas. “We lost to Lane because we worked individually,” Gorsek said. The team changed their pace last Saturday with a win over Portland Community College 2-1. Quite a few of the players complained of bruises after wards, and said they should have scored higher but were happy they won. Coach Szan to said their toughest com petitors should be PCC and Tacoma. Jeff Vass, a new player from Centennial High School, has just returned from Hungary where he played on a second-division team, which is like a first division junior team. Vass is considered one of the best high school soccer players in Oregon. “He’s cer tainly going to be an asset to our team,” Szanto said.
