It came down to the last two matches. This was a “must win game” for the Cougars, ^according to coach Royce Kiser. The Cougars were led by Tom Welle who dominated with 26 points and 23 re bounds. Dan Hanson and Dave Carlson scored 17 and 13 points respectively, and Jim Jill added 12 points and 13 re bounds. Tom Jones dealt 13 assists although he was in foul trouble early in the first half.
