ROTO SCHOLARSHIPS
If you’re thinking of eventually
going to a four-year college, it’s not
too early to start thinking about an
ROTC scholarship.
There are 2-year and even 1-year
ROTC scholarships available.
They cover tuition, books, and
lab fees. Plus $100 a month living
allowance. Naturally, they’re very
competitive. Because besides helping
you towards your bachelor’s degree,
an ROTC scholarship helps you
towards the gold bars of an Army
Officer. It’s worth looking into.
WINGS & A CHOPPER
With two years of college under
your belt, you can get preferential
consideration for Warrant Officer
Flight Training.
If you pass all the tests and
qualify, you’ll go through 40 weeks
of rigorous and valuable training.
You’ll earn the distinctive bars of
a warrant officer and the silver wings
of an Army aviator. You’ll have at
least 175 hours of flight instruction,
40 hours with a flight simulator, 4
weeks nighit qualification, and
enough classroom work in aerody­
namics, meteorology and aerial
navigation to last a lifetime.
The result is a rewarding,
responsible and prestigious position
as an Army helicopter pilot.
STRIPES FROM THE START
What you’ve learned in college
has already earned you a promotion
in the Army.

It’s true. If you join the Army
with two years of college, you can
start two pay grades higher. Instead
of being an E-l with an empty sleeve,
you can come in as E-3 with stripes.
It means about $60 more a month
in your paycheck. And a lot more op­
portunity in the long run. Since you’ll
be literally wearing your education
on your sleeve, your talents won’t go
unnoticed by your superiors.
And starting out right can really
help you make the most of the Army.

to use it wisely.
The Army has a program in
which money you save for college
is matched two-for-one by the
government. Then, if you qualify,
generous bonuses are added to that.
So 2 years of service can get
you up to $7,400 for college, 3 years
up to $12,100, and 4 years up to
$14,100. In addition, bonuses up to I
$3,000 are available for certain 4- I
year enlistments in selected skills. I
Add in all the experience and I
maturity you can get, and you can I
see how the Army can send you back
to college a richer person in more
ways than one.
