briefs Mens’ seminar the College’s counseling depar tment, 656-2631, ext. 266. “Understanding the Han dicapped” will be the topic of a seminar at the College’s Com munity Center, room 101, Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. Jesse Kapel, a vocational rehabilitation counselor, will discuss how the handicapped and those who work with them can make “realistic approaches to making vocational choices and developing positive self concepts”, according to James Houser, assistant coordinator of the College’s Men’s Resour ce Program. The seminar is sponsored by the Men’s Resource Program. The cost is $2 and pre registration is encouraged. Per sons may register by contacting Dairy contest The College dairy judging team placed first at the Cal Poly Junior College Dairy Judging Contest in San Luis Obispo, Ca.‘, Nov. 16-18. The contest featured six of the top two-year colleges on the West Coast. The College team was com posed of: Gary Hansen, Molalla; Hardy Dimick, Canby; Gretchen Wilhelm, West Linn; Cindy Steele, Roseburg; and Frank Kraaz, Roseburg. The team was coached by Dan Lowrie, Clackamas County Ex tension Agent. The dairy judging team previously place third at the California State at Chico con test and second at the Portland International Livestock Ex position . Those persons interested in competing on the. team next year should contact one of the agriculture instructors at the College. Shoplift seminar A seminar on Shoplifting Prevention will be offered for Molalla area businessmen and their employees, Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in Molalla High School. Merchants in the area will have the opportunity to learn about prevention techniques from Clackamas County Deputy Sheriff Art LeTourneau and to have their questions an swered. The seminar will last three hours. The seminar is sponsored by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Crime Prevention Office, Molalla Police Department, College and the Molalla Com munity School Office. Gym open The College’s Randall Hall gym and athletic facilities will be available to the public for Sunday recreation starting this Sunday. The College’s Sunday Recreation program will run during the first three Sundays in December and then resume on Jan. 6, and continue through March 9. There is no charge for the use of facilities. The schedule is: volleyball and badminton from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; basket- bail, wrestling and tumblil from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; weiq room from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. 1 For more information abo^H community recreation oppd tunities at the College, call ex 211. The club decided ■ donate $300 to the departma to help beautify the surroun dings of the building. Speech team lose but has a good time Traveling to Linfield College for their latest tournament, the College Speech Team placed a dismal 16th out of 17 junior and four-year colleges throughout the Oregon territory and from as far away as Los Angeles. In the tournament, which ironically took place Nov. 16th and 17th, Bernice Lee was the only speaker from the College to break into finals, taking second place in oratory. “Our debators could have made finals, but they had a few rotten judges, so they di make it,” said Coach al Harlow. The only team Clacka beat was Western Washing University. “They’re a roijh college,” smiled Harlow. "• “All in all, we did pr bad,” summed up Harlot® the trip to McMinnville, “buffl had a great time.” The team hopes to do befra at its next tournament Nov,J and Dec. 1 at Lower Columbi College.
