briefs Don’t forget People who are embarrassed by forgetting a name, directions to a friend’s house or the most important event in a book need fear no more. Memory class is here. Warren Pickett, member of the Playgoers Theatre Guild, will teach the class Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. The class will involve discussions of the theory of memory and techniques on how to improve it. - “All of us deal with memory,” said Pickett, “and some of us have problems with it.” Pickett said he thinks the class will be useful to anyone who has problems remem bering anything from names to colors to lay outs, to what you’ve just read. . “I’m a theater director and producer, and I know about memorizing lines,"' he said. Pickett also has a degree in psychology. Homework will consist of remembering things, so don’t forget—it’s Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. New kiln The College art department will begin using a new and safer kiln for their projects later this term. The new kiln will be located outside in a wooden house. Construction has already begun and, according to Faculty Development and Planning Officer Don Fisher, will be done by about the last week of April. “The purpose of the project is to make it safer,“ he said. “The old kiln was built inside Thornley said the civil ser vice representative will be available for questions “on a one-to-one basis.” and is only supposed to last for two to three years. Cancellation A health Insurance Seminar for insurance agents scheduled for Saturday at the College has been cancelled. Scheduling conflicts and a lack of enrollment were given as reasons for the cancellation by Gib Bloomquist, College job skills improvement coor dinator. Career day A career day for persons in terested in state civil service oc cupations is planned for April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Community Center Mall. Representatives from the state Department of Revenue, Department of Environmental Quality, and a variety of human resource agencies, will be on campus to answer questions. “For those interested in working with people; we will have resources here from Adult and Family Services, the Em- and office staff,” said Marv Thornley, College placement officer. New store opening soon Vince and Mary Fitzgerald, a husband and wife counseling team, will discuss com munication tools for relation ships ' in “Experiencing a Relationship,” a seminar at the College on April 19 in the Community Center, room 101, at 7 p.m. The seminar is designed to aid partners in a relationship to improve their communication.. It is important that both persons attend. The seminar is sponsored by Focus on Women and the Men’s Resource programs at the College. The cost is $1 and persons interested in attending are encouraged to pre-register by calling the College’s Com munity Services Office, 656- 2631, ext. 208. Dress success Ideas for women on job search and success techniques will be presented in two Focus on Women seminars in April at the College. “Resume Writing and Inter viewing” will be taught Thur sday in Randall Hall, room 101, at 7 p.m. by Dorothy In tile of Georgia Pacific. The class will provide ways to market abilities to the right employer. “Dress for Success” will be offered on April 18, in Barlow Hall, Board Room A, at 7 p.ni., by Bev McGill, a fashion •and modeling consultant. The class will cover many areas concerning wardrobe planning, including cost, color coor dination and complimenting your shape with the correct fashions. Both clases cost $1 per per son. Equinox The annual conference for public-interest organizations, cooperative groups and small businesses, the Third Annual Equinox Gathering, will be April 12 through 15 at Vashon Island, Wash.
