Skill Olympics More than 200 high school students throughout Oregon will be competing in the statewide Skill Olympics April 14 and 15 at the College. This year will be the sixth straight year that the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America will be holding this competition. The competition will consist of contests in trades such as auto mechanics, bricklaying, carpen try, welding, and radio and tele vision repair. The competition is sponsored by the state and local VICA chap ters, the State Department of Education and business and in industry, which supplies mater ials, equipment and judges. Fitness class The community recreation and community services department at the College is sponsoring a fitness and conditioning class for women beginning Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the gym and weight room in Randall Hall. Pre-registration is a must and there is a $1 fee. Gladys Michael, instructor, will demonstrate the use of weight ma chines and stretch and relaxation techniques. Also there will be a de velopment and exercise program suited to the student's needs. In addition, there will also be a ques tion and answer period for the stu dents. Whatever your reason, you now have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of yourself as well as other people and cultures. Year-long academic programs in France, Germany, Japan and Mexico will allow you to earn full Oregon State University or University of Oregon credit while studying abroad. Financial aid is available as well as the oppor tunity to apply for a scholarship. You must have two years of language study to qualify for pro grams in France, Germany and Mexico. The voyage will consist of sailing to the Florida Gulf Coast Islands aboard an AYH 26- foot sailing sloop. During the five-day cruise, there will be swimming and snorkeling. The cost, including food, is only $179 and will be open to all who are interested.
