She paints in oils, sketches and sculp tures. Albeke is studying for her art major here at the college. Por traits and landscapes are the sub jects she likes to work with. "I really don't know when I started," said Albeke, "I received my first oil painting kit when I was in the ninth grade." A year later Albeke enrolled in a painting class at the Brush and Platte in Milwaukie, taught by Jack Barber an Oregon City high school art instructor "A lot of my ideas and feeling about art were influenced by Barber," Albeke said. "I’m constantly starting paint ings," Albeke said, "I paint until a certain portion is finished then start on something new." Albeke has around fifty paint ings that she has started. "The hardest thing for an artist to do is knowing when to stop painting," Albeke said. 1 1 • 1 1 s Rhonda Albeke To most people art is their hob by, and science and math are their work. With Albeke it's different. "Science and math are my hob bies," Albeke said, "A person should be subjected to many fields, not just art." Albeke usually paints two to three hours a day. Photo by Brian Snook ASG plans winteractivities The College's Associated Stu dent Government has many ac tivities planned for winter term that were chosen through feed back given by students in recent polls taken by ASG. They have planned several cof feehouses for winter term due to the success of fall term's coffee houses. On Jan. 6, Red Mark a singer and instrumentalist, will perform in the Fireside Lounge from 8 to 11 p.m. For those who missed Steve Cooper this term he will return Jan. 25. Cooper plays a variety of in struments including the guitar, squeezebox, and harmonica. He sings many popular songs, but all of them are mellow. He also sings folk songs and ballads. Cooper is a performer who is enjoyed by young and old. Less Williams will be at the College on Jan. 25. Williams is a dancer. He will perform in the CC mall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. . If you enjoy Appalachian folk music don't miss Guy Carawan. Carawan will sing in the mall Jan. 11, at 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Next term's Monday Flick titles have not been decided upon. The subjects will be horror flicks. In February the Williams Toy Theatre, a group of puppeteers, will be putting on a show. The Theatre will be here Feb. 8 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On Feb. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Spira, a group of actors, will mall. perform in the CC Photo display in CCC library Pat Oden, a student at the College, and Bob Moravec, a form er College student have a photo graphy display in the library. Oden prefers scenic photo graphy as a hobby and especially enjoys photographing roses. His collection exceeds 100. The majority of the pictures have been taken in national parks, such as Monterey, Calif, and Yosemite National Forest. Moravec, also an education major in 1974-1976, enjoys using a 12 mm. fisheye lens for dif ferent effects ranging from beauty to comical distortion. arfe Music will be the subject of the Brown Bag Movie Dec. 8 noon in CC 117. Schzoid Plus will perform in the CC mall at noon on Dec. 9. Oden and Moravec plan a photo graphy tribute to Grand Teton National Park, Wyo. It will be presented in February and dis played in the College library. Portland. The performance will be Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8:15 and Dec. 11 and 18 at 3 p.m. Admission is adult $2.50 and student $1.50. The last chance dance will be in the CC mall Dec. 15, 9 to midnight. The band will be Silverfall. The Portland Civic Theatre is performing the children's production "The Brave Little Tailor" Dec. 10 and 17. For more information call 226- 3048.
