Teachers to leave; decrease of students cause
Because of the decrease of
students for Grant next year we
will be losing a few teachers in
all fields.
Mr. David Smith, who is an
English teacher, will be leaving
at the end of this year. Mr.
Smith commented on his past
year here at Grant. “I really en
joyed it. I’m impressed by the
students’ actions. I was really
surprised at the student partici
pation of Earth Day and many
other activities which involved
student participation.
Other teachers leaving are:
Mrs. Diane Cedros, freshman
English teacher; Mrs. Sue Davis,
who teaches girls’ Physical Edu
cation and Health; Mrs. Patricia
Walker, who teaches Special
Education.

by scholarships, awards, honors
The two scholarships considered most outstanding-by the Grant
High School faculty are the Fletcher and McGaw Memorial Scholar
ships. These are given in honor and memory of the first principal of
Grant High School, Mr. William T. Fletcher, and a former vice-prin
cipal of girls, Miss Elizabeth McGaw. These scholarships are given
to the senior boy and girl voted by the faculty as having been most
outstanding in citizenship, academic achievement and service to
Grant. The monetary value of each award is $150. Recipients of
these scholarships will be named the night of Commencement as
well as the Dads’ Club Scholarship Awards which are awarded to
4.00’ers.
