2 THE GRANTONIAN May 28, 1970 Teachers to leave; decrease of students cause Because of the decrease of students for Grant next year we will be losing a few teachers in all fields. Mr. David Smith, who is an English teacher, will be leaving at the end of this year. Mr. Smith commented on his past year here at Grant. “I really en­ joyed it. I’m impressed by the students’ actions. I was really surprised at the student partici­ pation of Earth Day and many other activities which involved student participation. Other teachers leaving are: Mrs. Diane Cedros, freshman English teacher; Mrs. Sue Davis, who teaches girls’ Physical Edu­ cation and Health; Mrs. Patricia Walker, who teaches Special Education. “I was looking forward to teaching here next year but | I | | lish teacher; Miss Bonnie Tay­ lor, who teaches junior Social Studies; Mrs. Jean Uyeno, who teaches senior Social Studies; Miss Jean Borders, who teaches freshman English and Social Studies. by scholarships, awards, honors The two scholarships considered most outstanding-by the Grant High School faculty are the Fletcher and McGaw Memorial Scholar­ ships. These are given in honor and memory of the first principal of Grant High School, Mr. William T. Fletcher, and a former vice-prin­ cipal of girls, Miss Elizabeth McGaw. These scholarships are given to the senior boy and girl voted by the faculty as having been most outstanding in citizenship, academic achievement and service to Grant. The monetary value of each award is $150.
