Bailey, alius George Billings, hunted by Portland detectives on suspicion of being “ S h a d o w ” or “ Talkative B u r g la r ," or both, who has terrorized Portland in repent weeks, is believed to lie n man who was employed by two Salem men in Portland during the Pacific International Livestock exposition and the Portlrfbd Poultry show. His Salem employes were E. A. Rhoten o f the Pacific Homestead, who employed Bailey during the livestock show as a subscription solicitor, and VV C. Con nor, editor o f the Northwest Poultry Journal, who employed him in a simi lar capacity for that publication dur ing the poultry show. For each, however. Bailey was cm ployed only a few hours. He was found to be trickey, the Salem men say, and is believed to have taken the money for his own use on Homestead subscriptions which were not turned in.
