PUT HIGHWAY THROUGH
Notices were posted in the road dis­
trict* north and south of Cottage Grove
this week for the new route of Pacific
highway through the city. While here
putting up the notices, County Kngi
neer Morse, in company with County
Commissioner Spencer, went over the
Delight vnlley road. Mr. Spencer hopes
to get an appropriation from the mar
ket roads fund to complete grading and
rocking the loop from the Spray bridge
through Delight valley to Saginaw.
MRS ELIZABETH CHURCHILL
DIES OF HEART TROUBLE
The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Vcatch
Churchill was held here yesterday af
ternoon from the chapel, Rev. J. S.
I’eaix of filiating. Interment was in
tin A. F. &. A. M. L O. o. F. cemetery.
Death occurred Tuesday at Gardiner,
where she was visiting her sister, Mrs.
1'hos. Richmond.
Mrs. Churchill had undergone an op­
eration fo> goiter the Saturday before
and was apparently on the way to re­
covery until a few moments before
death. A large number of friends from
outside points attended the funeral and
the floral tributes were many.
Mrs. Churchill was 32 years of age
and was born in Cottage Grove. The
husband, Fred Churchill, died about
nine years ago and in recent years
Mrs. Churchill hnd made h«-r home in
Portland. Surviving relatives are the
father, R. \V. Veateh, of Eugene; the
step mother, Mrs. Ida Veateh, o f this
city; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Groff, of
Prineville, and Sirs. Thus. Richmond,
of Gardiner, and a half brother. Rob
ert Veateh, t>f this city.

Mr. Stanfield met many of the worn

were disappointed that Mr. Htanfickl

but his time was so limited that he
could not do so and could not moot
even as many voters as .ho wished to.
He stated that there seems no qu*«s-
tion that Oregon will elect the repub

essary, confer with the teacher in re­
gard to the work your child has been

work together for the benefit o f the
child, therefore your hearty cooperation
is solicited to secure the best develop
inent of your rhild.
Special attention should b«' paid to
the question of attendance. Irregular
attendance seriously handicaps a child
and frequently is the cause o f his fail
ing to make his grade at the time for
promotion. Even the loss nf a portion
of a d ay’s session occasioned by tardi­
ness often proves a serious interrup­
tion to the child's progress. The at­
tendance for the first month was very
good, it being 1*7 per cent, and we
should strive to maintain this good
percentage, if not better it.
The report cards will be sent out
each six weeks and if there is anything
concerning the report that you as a
parent or guardian do not understand
the teacher will gladly explain the
matter to vou.
