The tax levy for this year (1920) will raise $854,030 for all purposes— state, county, school, and market roads, and the rate is 18.675 mills. “ Whereas, we feci there is no more impor tant matter before the peuplo o f Lane county at the present time than Che building o f good roads, and I f the population and assessable property were increased 30 per cent, it would probably n'quire $700,000 in taxes and the tax rnte would fall to 15.38 mills, or from $18.67 per thousand assessed value, to $15.38 per thou sand. “ Whereas, after & careful and conscientious investigation o f the methods and systems pos sible for the building o f good roads we realize that the bond issue w ill be the most feasible, the surest, the quickest and we believe the fa ir est method o f buildiug these roads; B«*tter roads mean more people, more people mean more taxable property, more taxable prop erty menus lower taxes.
