Washington, Aug. 20 - Repeal of the
daylight saving act was ureoinplished
today, the senate voting to sustain the
house in punning the repeal measure
over President Wilson's veto. The vote
wan 57 to IU.
The repeal of the law becomes effee
five after the clocks are turned back
to normal in October. It is one of the
very few measures which bnve twice
been vetoed by the president and have
become laws in spite of the veto.

may well plan on a large attendance
of fana from here. The request to play
has been receive*! by the local club
but the club willing to go up against
the local* and one that would have a
chance with them has not yet been

management will be appointed to pick

Grants Pass will not be played here
next Sunday. Several of the local
players will not be able to be here on
that date and as definite arrange
ments hail not been completed the
game Was postponed. The locals refuse
to plhy any more o f the teams from
this section of the state, ns the con
tests are too one-sided to give the
spectators their money’s worth. They
expect to arrange games with Grants
Puss, Newherg and possibly some Port
land team but will not take on any
more small fry. They have lost but
one game this season and can safely
lay claim to the championship.
Mrs. Beebe Oets Letter from Husband.
Mrs. L. C. Beebe has at Inst received
a letter from her husband, Captain
Beebe, still in France. This i* the
f i r -*t letter she has received in several
months, but she received two cable-
grams a week or so ago, which were
the first word she had received in over
three months. Captain Beebe states in
his letter that he has been seriously
ill. lie nlso states that the offirers of
the regulars have received orders to
remain in France indefinitely. Captain
Beebe is now acting ns quartermaster.
Several letter* which Captain Beebe
mentioned in bis cablegrams have
failed to reach here.
