H E President has expressed w h a t is in every A m erican heart. As a nation w e are united in the w inning of this war. As a nation w e stand behind our fighters eager and prepared to do for them w hatev er w ill hasten victory and m ake the fighter’s task a little lighter. As individuals there is little w e can do. As a n a tion w e can w ork w onders through the seven organi zations authorized and recognized by the G overnm ent. T h ey come to you not as Catholics, nor as Jews nor as Protestants, not as the representatives of any creed-or enterprise, but as A m ericans to ask th a t you join in this great united undertaking for God, and country and our fighters. T he President has voiced his belief th a t this spirit cf un ity w ill be “crowned w ith ab u n d an t success.” H e believes it because he know s this cam paign is “of vital m ilitary value ” and he know s th a t you w ill leave nothing undone to w in this w ar. It rests w ith you. T h in k of this cam paign as your sole responsibility. W h a t you give w ill m ean its suc cess. You cannot leave this undertaking to others. I t is YOUR campaign. In France, A m ericans are fight ing this w a r as if the result depended on the w ay each individual fights. A t home, this cam paign rests w ith you.
