Cost of the lost items was estimated at $400 by I asold. An itemized list of the articles include: 65 scarves, 45 hats, 41 gloves (some paired), ?? coats and jackets, 14 sweaters, II gym blouses, 10 notebooks, 9 belts, 9 shirts, 6 umbrellas, 6 books, 6 gym shorts, 3 lunch pails, 2 baseball mitts, I pair of trousers, I skirt, I pair of socks and a box of under garments. Fisher Phone 33F5 THORNTON CORNERS Ed- die Hemenway accompanied a group ol 28 boys on a dairy inspec tion tour of eastern Oregon for three days last weekend. 'Ilie trip was sponsored by Eugene Farm ers' Creamery for boys who were members of the 4-H Dairy club and who had entered exhibits of dairy stock at the county fair. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Wheeler left Saturday of last week tor a week's visit with relatives in San Fran cisco and Watsonville, Calif. Dur ing their absence, their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Al ton Wheeler, of Creswell, stayed at the Wheeler home and took care of the chores. Mrs. Matt Maddess and her son, Charlie, and the latter’s family, all of Tacoma, were visitors Sunday evening of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fisher. Mrs. Maddess had spent the week with her daughter-in- law, Mrs. George Maddess, near Gowdyville. Mr." and Mrs. Joe Premazzi and Miss JoAnne Premazzi spent last weekend at Florence. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ann McCar- rol of Springfield. Mrs. Walt Steindorf and son of Tenino, Wash., visited Mrs. Stein- dorf’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Rakestraw, last weekend. Eddie Hemenway left Tuesday- for a 10-day summer school at Oregon State college. He had ceived a full scholarship as an award for 4-H club work. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Higgins and family were recent visitors of Mrs. Edna Wagner, Lynx Hollow- road. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Johnson left by plane Saturday to attend the funeral of Mr. Johnson’s mother in Mountain Home. Idaho. They were joined at Portland by his sister, Mrs. W. C. Moran of Gresh- , am, and returned home Monday by auto with Mr. Johnson's broth er. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left their son and little daughter with Mrs. Johnson's sister. Mrs. W. W. Bunch, at Elkton while they were away. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Dixon visi ted last week with their son-in- . law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Jett, in Grants Pass. ' Mrs. T. A. Ward entertained a group of friends Sunday at a sur prise party in honor of the anni versary of her husband. Jones of Coos Bay were recent visitors ot Mrs. Jones' sister, Mrs. Everett Mack. They were enroute home from attending the funeral of Mr. 1 Jones’ sister in Spokane. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Higgins and family spent one evening last week at thè Willis Isley home at Eden Park. Mr. and Mrs. Hack Wooden and family moved last week to John Day in eastern Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Wheeler were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Wheeler’s brother, Charlie Hayes, in Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Ward and daughter. Roberta, of Dorena were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Ward Tuesday in honor of Mr. Ward's anniversary. MOSBY CREEK Patrons of Blue Mt school are reminded of the annual school meeting Mon day. June 20. All school districts which do not have five man school boards will be required to elect the additional three members at the election June 20 instead of just one member as in the nast One member will be elected for three years, one for four years and one for five years. Directors will be nominated by petition filed with the district clerk. Mrs Mil lie Roby, at least seven days prior to the election. They shall lie sign ed by at least three per cent of the number of voters voting at the last annual school election. There must be, however, at least 10 signers on each petition and all must be registered voters. The polls will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 pm. on Monday, June 20 Mrs. Glen Cochran entertained the Row River club at her home on Mosby Creek last Thursday. Ben Anderson went to Van couver to Veterans hospital Wed nesday for a check-up. Mrs. Leon Poole reports that her daughter, Ruth Ewing, has had another serious operation on her back and is staying at the Gene Cutts home in Cottage Grove. Mis. There were six riding clubs represented with their horses and Dr. Parken- son brought his riding group dow n from Eugene. Some who attended report that there were more pretty- horses there than at some rodeos. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Croniger of Portorville, Calif., are visiting their daughters and families. Mr and Mrs. Bill Battles of Mosby- Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Led ford of Cottage Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dugan of Walden store. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Peterson spent a few days in eastern Ore gon this past week where they visited Glass Mountain. Peter sen’s Rock Garden and other in teresting places. Mrs. Wood of Cottage Grove went with them. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Cherry went to Portland Saturday morning and attended the Rose Festival parade. Mrs. Rose Relien of Myrtle Point visited her sister and hus- band, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie erson, over the weeeknd and went to the coast Monday with them to spend a few days at their cab- j in.
