Coast Guard recruit- Ing office in Portland has an- nounced that an intensive drive i* now on for the procurement of eligible young men for immediate enlistment in the regular Coasts Guard and Coast Guard reserve. Young men 17 to 25 years of age who can meet the physical and mental standards may be en listed for a period of four years and assigned to duty at the Coast Guard Training Station, Alameda. Calif, for 12 weeks basic training. After completion of the basic training the new coast guardsman is given ten days leave enroute to his first assignment ashore or afloat. Young men who are interested and would like to join the oldest sea-going service« of the United States may get further informa tion by contacting the Coast Guard recruiter« in Room 205. U. S. The travel official explained that it is illegal to pick up and take away young animals. “As a fawn, bear cub or baby fox grows, it becomes dangerous and no longer suitable as a pet. Then it must either be destroyed or released," Crowe added.
