Skillet Vea The New Year was ushered into I the valley, not only with the sud den stormy weather, but with dis-j aster in the loss of the old school : building, which had. so recently, i been converted into an auditorium after moving into the new build ing. Sincere thanks and apprecia tion is extended to the members of the Cottage Grove and Lorane Fire crews and Daugherty Lumber [ Co. for their able assistance dur ing the fire, and to the neighbors J of the valley for all the help ex-1 tended. Especial thanks go to the men who kept watch for two I hours intervals during the night, enabling the debris to be complete ly burned without endangering the new building. As soon as a pump house is built and the new pump ing plant installed, school will be resumed. Residents of the valley are deeply appreciative of the fact that the new piano and 96 of the 100 new folding chairs were able to be removed without damage other than being badly smoktKi up. Ralph Hutchison of Portland en joyed the holiday week end as house guest of John Earl Van- Nortwick. Mrs. Grace Zumwalt visited at the home of her son, Harve Den ham in Eugene for several days this past week. New Years day dinner at the Ed. Sherrill home was shared with Mr. and Mrs. Glynn Garris and daughter, Dixie Lee.
