While j there are lots of objections to the m I« w tax klca. a good many of our cituenx have eonie to the conclusion that this tax would provide the moat logical source of revenue and the same logic wax used by about 27 other states that now have the sales tax. We note that the Central I^ane Planning Commission has drawn an additional sum of about $1.400 from the county, which makes a sizeable chunk of funds drawn from the county by this organization in the past twelve months. Death of Eugene Lumberman Being Investigated Now yesterday. Harrington was alleg edly shot by his wife after a fam ily quarrel at the Harrington home on College Hill in Eugene. Mrs. Harrington told police that the shooting climaxed a two and a half hour quarrel and was done after her husband threatened to shoot her. Two shots were fired into the body of Harrington. The shooting took place while two small Harrington children lay asleep in the same room. Harring ton was said to have been under the influence of liquor at the time of the shooting, but was not in a violent state according to officers.
