Headed by President Forrest I. Neal of Quincy, Massachusetts, nine di rectors from various parts of the country met at Institute head- ' quarters in Joliet, Illinois, to re view the w ar job laundries are doing, and to plan new and im proved services which can be launched after the w ar is over. Despite the tremendous labor turnover caused by the selective service and the "syphoning o ff" of help to other industries, laun dries have been able to render the necessery service to 12 million American families while at the same time doing the laundry work for better than 55% of the Armed Forces. Hospitals, hotels tfnd other necessary public institutions have come in for their share of laundry work too, for without it they would have been unable to con tinue th e ir indispensable service to the public. / M a k in g B a s h In m a k in g h a s h o n to p o f th e ra n g e , n e v e r le t th e m e a t p a r t a c tu a lly b o il.
