' Sold and guaranteed by KEM’S FOR DRUGS. (Successors to Earl Motor Company) 1 To E very V oter Here’s a Vital Question ? * It is the building of the highway bridge at Harrisburg. This question is vital to Lane county citizens because Lane county will benefit most and it will cost her less in proportion to her assessed valuation. The highway commission pays for a third of the bridge, Linn county voted bonds last November to pay for its third, and now Lane county must pay for its third—and the only way is through a special tax levy of two mills, and at the May primaries you will be asked to vote that two-mill tax. This tax will raise the $70,000 which is a third of the cost of the bridge and 1100-foot trestle. PAVING COMES FREE When the contract for the bridge is let the Highway Commission will ask for bids on the four-mile strip of paving between Junction City and the bridge, the grade for which has nearly all been completed and in use for almost two years/ The ___ balance will be completed at once. This paving is to be done almost entirely at the expense of the state and the funds to do it are laid aside for that purpose. LANE COUNTY GETTING OFF EASY The bridge is to be of the best type and when completed will afford passage across the Willamette at all but the very highest floods. More than 11(H) feet of trestle will be built in Lane county and our people will have to pay only one-third of its cost, as well as one-third of the bridge. This is certainly giving* to Lane county a fair deal. PRIMARIES MAY 16 Talk this over with your neighbors and ask them to come to the polls to vote for this tax—just two mills—on primary day. It will be those who stay at home who 'might defeat the measure, feeling sure it will carry. T~ But the project is so important that no one who believes in progress can afford , to take a chaiice -------- That is why we have organized- ; although we do not know of any real opposition—to place this im- portant matter before you in this way.
