Mr. and Mrs. Robert Coombs, of Eugene, spent Suuday at the Teeters home. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. England and son Roy were in Eugene Saturday. Mrs. Charles Teeters and daughter Nellie were in Cottage Grove Satur day. Roy Smith, of Star, was a dinnor East Sunday at the C. A. Vau hoiack home. Mrs. Warren Kelly went to Eu gene Saturday for medical treat ment. There will be a Christmas tree and program at the Doretia church. Candy and nuts will be distributed. Dec. 17.—Mrs. C. B. Jacobs and children, who had been visiting at the home of Mrs. Jacobs’ brother, C. O. DeVere, left Saturday to join Mr. Jacobs at Curry. J. W. Sears came down from the Bohemia district Tuesday of last week. Jack Warner, of Portland, for merly of Cottage Grove, visited Sat urday at the J. W. Sears home. Miss Joy Fredericks, of Cottage Grove, spent the week end with Katheryn Hemenway and attended literary. Matt Alldrop spent Sunday after noon at the J. W. Sears home. The next meeting of the literary will be on the evening of January 11. The program is in charge of Miss Hazel Ashby, Mrs. Ellen Mc Farland and Miss Beulah Smith. M r. and M rs. Tn rr and son George spent Sunday at the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. ~ Dan Franklin. A Christmas program will be giv- en by the school children at the school house Friday, December 21. Mrs. C. A. McFarland visited the school Wednesday. A program will be given by the farmers’ union local on December 27 at an opening meeting. A box social will follow the program. Several members of the farmers ’ union are attending the state con- vent ion in Eugene this week. Miss Susie Camp spent Sunday at the Ed Ashby home. Marion Horning is working at Melbourne, Wash. Curtis Veatch, of Halsey, spent Sunday with the C. A. McFarlands. DOREN A. (Special to The Seutinel.) Dec. 17.—Mrs. Barton Perini vis- ited this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gore lost his balance, his hat and a sack of apples which he was car rying. He recovered his balance, thereby escaping a cold bath in the river, but failed to recover the hat or the apples. Mrs. Earl Layton and baby daughter Patricia are visiting at the home of Mrs. Layton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Gore. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tullar, -of Cot tage Grove, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Geer. Mr. and Mrs. 8. T. Rose and Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Pruett and daughter Jessie were in Cottage Grove Sat urday. The Brooks family, who have been living on the Lon Shortridge place, have moved to Chehalis, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Roberts, of Anlauf, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Small and Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Pruett vis ited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Jones. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Abeeue Sunday were the George Sutherland and Howard Cox fami lies, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland, Mrs. J. E. Bunton, Miss Gladys Smith, Mrs. Mary Massey and son John and Jessie Pruett. J. H. Wartheu, who had been vis iting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. L. Haight are home from an extended visit in California. George Miller, of Salem, visited last week with W. A. Keene. Mr. Miller and Mr. Keene spent a part of tho week on a duck hunting trip to the coast. The high school play was given Thursday evoning and was well at tended. Lem Reese and Jess Small, of Leona, spent several days here hunt ing coyotes with their dogs. They killed one and wounded another. A number from here were in Eu gene Saturday, among them being the Kent, Scars, Horn, Blakely and Leo Nixon families and J. A. Joll and son Frank. Mrs. O. H. Haight and daughters wero Eugene visitors Saturday. The turkey shoot at the T. D. Hodges farm Sunday was a big success. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. C.
