Kressel Memorial Award at the Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) annual conference in Eu- gene in mid-November. The award is given by the Oregon County Counsels Asso- ciation (OCCA) to a county council or assistant counsel who “exem- plifies the thoughtful, courageous, humorous and oft times irreverent approach to the practice of county law mastered by Larry Kressel. Kressel was one of the first attorneys to serve in Multnomah County, who would get involved in many areas, taught at Portland State’s Graduate School, and was appointed to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals. According to Wayne Belmont, Counsel for Lin- coln County, “Larry knew how to bring fun and humor into his work and to share it with everyone, but was always highly professional.” Hansen is the 23 rd person to receive the award. She was chosen because of her involvement with the organization. She has served on several committees and as the president, all the while be- ing an active part of the association, helping other county counsels, writing amicus briefs, and volunteering her time. Hansen provides civil legal services, representation, and advice to the Columbia County government. She joined Columbia County in 2000, and was named County Counsel in 2007. Columbia Humane Society Purr-fect Pals Featured Dog Ava was an owner surrender to the shelter, after a nice family found her dumped in a box with her kittens at the end of their driveway. This friendly girl would very much like to be the only cat in the household. She is very verbal in the cattery and likes to talk to us all day long about anything and everything she can think of. She is probably about 2 years old, is very healthy, and some family is going to love her and her wonderful personality. If you are interested in meeting Ava, please don't hesitate to call or email. Marley has been waiting a long time for her forever family. This girl is patient and loving, she loves to play ball, walks well on a leash, and has a great obedience foundation. Marley is not going to do well in a home where she will be exposed to a ton of dogs. She can be dog reactive out of fear, but we feel that with some counter conditioning she will eventually be able to overcome those fears. Ideally we would like to find a home for Marley that is not in the city, as she would do better with a large fenced area where her prospects of having to deal with other dogs could be lessened. We think she will do well in a home without cats. If you think that you can give Marley a great home please don't hesitate to call or email. At CHS the health and welfare of the animals in our care is our number one priority. We are dedicated to helping our adoptive families find that one perfect fit that will complete their family. Please email or call so that we can talk to you about your needs and wants in a new family member prior to just arriving at the kennels. 2084 Oregon Street, St. Helens, OR 97051 Phone: 503-397-4353 E-mail: info@columbiahumane.org Web: www.columbiahumane.org
