Gerald L. “Hank” Henry Gerald L. “Hank” Henry, 61, a former longtime resident of Timber, Oregon, late of Vernonia, Oregon, died Monday morning, July 23, 2018 at his home. Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. Gerald Lee Henry was born May 14, 1957 in Hillsboro, Oregon, the son of the late Howard Henry and Patri- cia (Edmond) Henry. He was raised and received his education in the communi- ties of Hillsboro and Aloha. He was a Veteran of the Viet- nam era, having joined the United States Army on July 5, 1974 in Fort Ord, Cali- fornia. Hank served for four years, until receiving his honorable discharge on September 21, 1978 at the rank of Pri- vate 1 st Class. Hank was united in marriage to Tamera L. “Tammy” Oleson on June 30, 1976 in the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They celebrated their 42 nd wedding anniversary this past June. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of Aloha and Timber for thirty-three years, until October of 2017 when they moved to the Vernonia community, where they have resided since. He had worked as a laborer for Vernonia School Board Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. The next School Board Meeting is scheduled for August 9 at 6:00 pm in the Schools Library. the Coral Construction Company in Wilsonville, for twenty-four years, until 2008 when he retired. Hank was a member of the St. Matthew Parish in Hillsboro, and the American Legion Post #114 in Aloha. Among his special interests, he enjoyed riding, bird watching, and feeding the deer in his yard, but most of all, spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Patricia Henry. Survivors include his wife Tammy Henry of the family home in Vernonia; his daughter Crickett Henry of Carlton, Oregon; and his two broth- ers, Joseph Henry of Tennessee and Robert Henry of Forest Grove. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Jade Chambers, Cade Henry, and Gabrielle Chambers; and his niece and nephew, Tracy Henry and Jason Henry, and Debra and Daniel Henry. The family suggests that re- membrances may be contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517, or to the St. Jude Children’s Tribute Program, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148, in Hank’s memory. (Dog Owners Group, a 501(c)3) are hosting the First Annual Co- lumbia County Dog Fair at Veterans Park in Scappoose on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The day will begin at 9:00 am with a 5K dog-friendly walk/run around Scappoose beginning and ending at the park. Registration and sign-in will begin at 8:00 am. The participants will end their walk/run in the park where a number of fun, dog friendly events, and games will be happening. Vendor booths, food carts, and product demonstrations will be happening all day along with a Dog Costume Contest with prizes, Dog Talent Contest and prizes, agility demonstration and free play hosted by Columbia Agility Team, “Ask a Vet” in- formation booth hosted by Midway Veteri- nary Hospital, photo booth, face painting by Earth Fairy Entertainment, and a Kids Photo Scavenger Hunt. The Dog Fair welcomes your well-behaved and leashed dogs to enjoy the fair with you.
