Without a permanent home, the market has relied on advertising and word of mouth to bring in vendors and customers. It is hoped that 2018 will bring a permanent home to the market. Thanks to the work by the City, the vacant lot which once hosted the Vernonia Health Center, next to Rock Creek on Bridge Street, is ready for us. Further developments are expected, including power and water, in coming years. Businesses of all types are encouraged to participate, as well as student fundrais- ing groups and those seeking a place from which they can dis- tribute information. To insure the staff’s ability to provide quality care for each child, enrollment is limited. Ben Fleck has been ranked as high as second in both the discus and shot put in the dis- trict. Newcomer Misha Yazmadov has been a pleasant surprise in both the discus and shot put. For the girls, senior Odes- sa Roberts leads the district in the triple jump, and Vernonia has four of the top six triple jumpers in the Invitational two weeks ago and is currently ranked second in the 800 meters, and fourth in both the 1,500 and 3,000 meters in the district. The committee has selected June 17-20, 2018 for the annual 4-H Summer Camp, held at Camp Kiwanilong in Warrenton, Oregon. Join us for 4 days/3 nights of fun! The program in- cludes nature hikes, wildlife programs, field games, crafts, and campfires. The camp has a nurse on duty at all times and trained adults to help supervise ac- tivities. Registration forms are available at the OSU Extension Service, 505 N Columbia River Hwy, St. Vernonia Community Garden, will be handled by Brett Cost- ley and Erin Gehrke-Swepston.
