Fred William Busch Jr. unconditional love and care for Hazel Marie Goldberg Laura Kaiser and Dan- iel Goldberg of Beaverton, Ore- gon are pleased to announce the arrival of Hazel Marie Gold- berg, born August 27, 2017 at 11:12 am at Portland Provi- dence Hospital. Hazel weighed 5 lbs 7 oz and is Laura and Daniel’s first child. Grandpar- ents are Jeana and Justin Gump of Vernonia, Clint and Linda Kaiser of Oregon City, and Linda Goldberg. Great grand- parents are Bev and Gerhard Bachmayer of Kaltenleutge- ben, Austria, Bruce and Terry Jenness of Salem. Great great grandparents are Nona Hartsog of Toledo, Oregon and Dwayne Jenness of Oakdale, California. Miss Savannah and Sadie Gump are excited to announce to the world that their first niece, Miss Hazel Marie Goldberg has graced the world with her pres- ence. She is welcomed by a large family of grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles, second cousins and many more. Fred William Busch Jr., 91, of Mist, Oregon passed away on October 5, 2017 at the Canterbury Inn in Longview, Washington. He was born Au- gust 5, 1926 in Portland, Or- egon to Fred William and Alma (Whittig) Busch. Fred graduated from Vernonia High School then joined the military. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was Hon- orably Discharged in 1946. He married Phylis Ruth Wilson on August 11, 1946 in Los Angeles, California and to- gether they had three children. While in L.A. he built sets for Warner Brothers Studios but he eventually made his way back to Mist, Oregon. Fred was the owner and operator of BCH Logging. Fred served on the Mist-Birkenfeld Fire Depart- ment Board of Directors and was a long time member and president of the OFPTA. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, camping, piloting, hunting, fishing, and clam digging. The family would like to thank Stacey Grady for her Where do you read the Voice? Show us where you have traveled. He is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Steve) War- ing of Portland; daughter in-law Mary Lou Busch; brother in- law Otis Wilson; sister in-law Clarli Wilson; 7 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phylis R. Busch in 2011, and sons Mi- chael Wilson Busch in 1983 and Mark William Busch in 1998. Celebration of Life Services were held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the Verno- nia Schools Commons. Gavin Richard Roberts Gavin Richard Roberts, 26, of the Vernonia, Oregon community, passed away in his mother’s home on October 11, 2017. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at the Scout Cabin at 901 Park Drive, Vernonia OR 97064 (in Hawkins Park) on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. At 6:00 pm the family invites all to join them as they will release biodegradable lanterns at the swimming area at Hawkins Park down Rock Creek. Gavin will be cremated and his ashes spread from the peaks of the Colorado Moun- tains at a later date. He served countless hours in his community doing quiet acts of service and was instrumental in the repair of many homes dev- astated by flood damage/winter storms. He was the first to tack- le a project and the last one left cleaning up. He gave his full measure of devotion to his fam- ily and his community. Gavin is survived by his mother Tera Hart-Roberts; his siblings John, Brittanie, Sierra-Rose, Mason-James, Deziree-Skye, Jocie-Ranay, Odessa-May, Gabriel; and his wife Angela Roberts who is ex- pecting their son by November 7. We are asking all community members to write down their stories/memories about Gavin and bring them to be placed in a memorial book and the service will be recorded/photographed to stand as a record for his son. Gavin was born in Bea- verton, Oregon to his mother Tera LaRay Hart-Roberts on March 28, 1991 and his family joined the Vernonia community in 1995 when Gavin was four years old. Vernonia is the town he considered his home and all those in Vernonia his extended family. He was always an ac- tive member of his community and offered service through his scouting, school and church affiliations to name a few. His character was known for his selflessness, passion for ser- vice and loyalty. He graduated from Vernonia High School in 2009 with awards for Heitzman Trophy in sports for dedication and leadership on and off the football field, DAR Good Citi- zens award district winner and received over a dozen or more academic/service scholarship awards from his community upon his graduation and matric- ulation to college. He achieved the rank of Eagle from the Boy Scouts Troop 201 and continued to participate in Scout activities for the remainder of his life earning additional palms. He received his Associates Degree in Science before serving as a Spanish-speaking missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Colo- rado South mission. At the time of his death, he was enrolled at Portland State University, working to complete his last 6 classes for his Bachelor’s De- gree in Science with a minor in Chemistry. Gavin loved his family and worked hard to take care of them at all times and in all things that he did.
