8 october5 community 2017 St. Helen’s Crawford Wins Coveted Rodeo Title On Saturday, September 23, Baylee Crawford was crowned the 2018 Miss Northwest Professional Rodeo Association (NPRA) at the final performance of the NPRA Finals, held annually in Prineville, Oregon. Ms. Crawford, a St. Helens High School graduate, is the 19-year-old daughter of Tom and Jeanne Crawford who loves to be active in her community. In addition to the title, Baylee won the People’s Choice, Appearance, Personality, Speech, and Knowledge awards after competing in the three- day pageant, which included multiple interviews, horsemanship competition, and other activities. Baylee participated in the 4-H horse program for eight years with her 16-year-old quarter horse gelding, Tee. She recently represented as the Columbia County Fair and Rodeo Princess in 2014 and 2015 and was then crowned Miss Teen Rodeo Oregon for 2016. She spent all year traveling to various events and rodeos, some as far as Florida and Las Vegas, but enjoyed the welcoming smiles of being present at her hometown fair and rodeo. When not working, Baylee enjoys being by the Columbia River, going on adventures with her two dogs, Bone and Shredder, and sometimes likes to treat herself to pizza and frozen yogurt while getting lost in a good book or movie.
