Dora Amy Haskett Jacob and MaCayla Stevens of Vernonia are pleased to announce the arrival of Alyce Rae Ste- vens, born on August 31, 2017, at 10:04 pm at Provi- dence St. Vincents Hospital Alyce weighed 8lb 5oz, measured 20 3 / 4 inches and joins older brother Walker, age 2. Grandparents are Brian and Brandi Fennell of Vernonia, Ewan and Teresa McLean of Clats- kanie, Rocky and Jeanne Hill of Vernonia and Jus- tin Stevens of Tualatin. Great grandpar- ents are Nancy Johnson of Vernonia, Don and Shei- la McLean of Vernonia, Mitch and DeAnn Johnson of Federal Way, WA, Al- len and Beverly Preslar of Dora Amy Haskett, 78, a former resident of Ver- nonia, late of Forest Grove, died Tuesday morning, Au- gust 28, 2017 at Brookdale Retirement Community in Forest Grove. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Millpond Pa- vilion, 25005 Rock Creek Road, Idleyld Park, Oregon. Dora Amy Haskett was born September 9, 1938 in Roseburg, Oregon, the daughter of the late Rodger Joe De Launey and Betty Lou (Jacobs) De Launey. She was united in marriage to Merritt Wilbur Haskett on March 17, 1956 in Stevenson, Washington. Following their marriage they resided in the com- munities of Yoncalla and Drain, Oregon. While living in Yoncolla, they operated a farm, having raised cattle, vegetables and an apple or- chard. Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt, on February 19, 2006 in Yoncolla, Oregon, after celebrating over 49 years of marriage together. In March of 2006 she moved to Vernonia, Oregon to re- side with her daughter and family. In 2015 she moved to Brookdale Retirement Community where she had been a guest resident since. She was a home- maker. Among her special interests, she enjoyed ani- mals, camping, gardening, romance novels, and puzzle books. Dora was also pre- ceded in death by her par- ents, Rodger and Betty De Launey. Survivors include her two sons, Tony Haskett of Wichita, Kansas and Ter- ry Haskett of Bellingham, Washington; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Bernard “Bernie” Voss of Vernonia, Oregon; and her two sisters, Jo Evenson and Sharon Campbell. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Derek Holland of Vernonia, Mandy Holland of Verno- nia, Joeseph Haskett of New Hampshire, and Amber Has- kett of Baltimore, Maryland; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd, Portland, OR 97211, in her memory.
