8 community may4 2017 Rutabaga Rhythm Workshops Joe Seamons and Tina Dietz worked with Vernonia elementary aged students in two Rutabaga Rhythm Workshops on April 26 and 27, one at the Vernonia Schools and one at the Vernonia Library for homeschool students, tying together musical rhythm, folk music, and local Vernonia history. Seamons and Dietz followed up the workshops with an afternoon concert at the Vernonia Schools, and then concluded their Vernonia visit with an evening concert, along with the band Timberbound, at the Vernonia Grange, which featured student participation. The students were enthralled with the music and dancing and enjoyed singing, clapping and keeping the beat along with the musicians.
