14 obituaries/classified ads october20 2016 In Memory of... Pamela Lee Kofstad Pamela Lee Kofstad, 61, of Vernonia passed away October 5, 2016 in her home surrounded by family and friends. Celebration of Life Service was held at Harvest Community Church in Beaverton, Oregon on October 16, 2016 at 3:00 pm with Reverend Dr. Chuck Currie officiating. Reception with fam- ily and friends followed the service. Pam was born in Hillsboro to George and Georgia Griffin on April 16, 1955. She graduated from Aloha High School in 1973. She became a valuable member of the staff at Pacific University as an Administrative Assistant for the School of Social Sciences. Pam is survived by her husband, Harvey Kofstad; two children, Kelly Kielian and Dustin Kofstad; three step- children, Angela Kofstad, Kevin Kof- stad, Steven Kofstad; parents, George and Georgia; three siblings, Mike Grif- fin, Ed Griffin, Sandra Danchok; and thirteen grandchildren. Rogers Jerry was born in Holdrege, Nebraska to Doyle and Joceina Rogers, raised in Oregon the oldest of six chil- dren. After graduating Taft High School Jerry joined the United States Marine Corp and received his Honor- able discharge in 1986. Soon after Jerry was united in marriage to Wanda Dulaney in 1988 in Newport, Oregon. They moved to the Salem area where they raised two daughters together. Jerry drove trucks for over 30 years which he loved and enjoyed al- most as much as hunting, fishing and taking his dog Jasmine out to his favor- ite spots in Vernonia. In 2014 Jerry and Wanda moved to Vernonia to retire in their own little slice of heaven together. Jerry and Wanda shared 28 years of marriage and memories together. Jerry loved his fam- ily, especially his children, grandchil- dren and great grandchild. On September 12, 2016 at 54, Jerry said his goodbyes to his loved ones here on earth but will be joining those that preceded him in death, his mother Joceina Rogers; his brother Jeffrey Rog- ers and sister Julie Rogers. Jerry leaves behind his wife Wanda J Rogers; his four children, Janie Medina, Robert Medina of Ma- dras, Alyssa Alonzo of Montana, Ju- lie Rogers of Salem; six grandsons, three granddaughters, one great grand- son, four nieces and two brothers, John and Tom Rogers of Birkenfeld; parents Doyle and Judy Rogers of Woodburn; two stepbrothers, Danny Ryser of Sa- lem, David Ryser of Washington; and a stepsister Evon Ryser of Junction City; and many cousins. Memorial Service will be held November 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Vernonia Assembly of God, 662 Jef- ferson Ave., Vernonia, OR. A potluck reception will be held following the ser- vice. Schirmeister, 43, a longtime resident of the Vernonia community, died Thursday morning, October 6, 2016 at the Kaiser Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro. A No Regrets Celebration of Life Potluck Open House was held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm at the Schirmeister family home, 62455 Sleepy Lane in Vernonia. Hyrum Fredrick Schirmeister was born on August 6, 1973 in Covina, California the son of Jay Doran and Margaret Marie (Tedford) Schirmeister. He was raised and received his educa- tion in the North Bend community, hav- ing been a graduate with the North Bend High School Class of 1991. He was united in marriage to Dawn Catherine Rigel on April 1, 1995 at the First Christian Church in North Bend, Oregon. They celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary this past April. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Milwaukee com- munity until 1998 when they moved to the Vernonia community, where they have resided since. Hyrum worked as a union roofer until 2004 when he was injured. He then worked as a flagger until 2009 when he became disabled. He then got the oppor- tunity to be a stay at home dad. Among his special interests he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also en- joyed spending time with his friends and family and was known as Uncle Hybe to many. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Marie Schirmeister and his sister, Lola Smith. Survivors include his wife, Dawn C. Schirmeister of the family home in Vernonia; his two daughters, Meagan Schirmeister of Vernonia and Felica Schirmeister of Vernonia; his fa- ther and his wife, Jay D. and Jan Schir- meister of North Bend, Oregon; his in- laws, Ted and Kathleen “Kathy” Rigel of Lakeside, Oregon; his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dutch Schirmeister of Vancouver, Washington and Bill and Cheryl Schirmeister of Elkton, Oregon.
