To the Editor,
Well, Jamboree 2014 has come
and gone, with many people having made
new friendships, and many renewing and
visiting with old friends. It is the hope of
the Jamboree Committee that everyone
had a good time and that the events that
we added and maintained were successful
in helping you have wonderful memories.
Jamboree is a three day event
that is made up of lots of little events. The
challenge of a successful Jamboree is
coordinating these events so that people
can enjoy as many events as possible.
I personally think that this year things
went exceptionally well, but I would
like everyone to understand that in order
for you to all have a great time, and the

Close Encounters of the Douglas Fir Kind
It’s kind of wild to think that the fir trees around
us were all planted by people for a very specific
reason. Those reasons have changed now that
Oregon State Parks is in charge of them. Take
a tour around the area in which the program
begins. No major effort on your part but you may
be standing and walking for the longevity of the
program. Strolling on dirt trails and in open field
areas may be part of the fun.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

ability to enjoy all these events, there are
a handful of people who will be going
back to work just to get some rest.
This is my second year as the
Jamboree committee chairman, and
I want everyone to know how hard
some people have worked to insure that
not only the people of Vernonia, but
also those that visited were able to have
great memories of wonderful times.
I know that as I put down these
names, I will miss some, but know that
we appreciate all that you have done.
