Spiritual blindness has three main roots. It begins with an insufficient knowledge or misuse of God’s Word, it is complicated by the Devil’s deceptive tactics, and is exacerbated by a lack of faith. Spiritual blindness will paralyze an individual or a church if not corrected. Webster defines paralyze in this way, “to render ineffective and risk putting something in great danger”. In order to correct spiritual blindness a person needs to understand God’s plan from Genesis to Revelation. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path”. Have you ever tried to find a destination with only part of a map? You will get lost! It doesn’t work in the spiritual world either. It is impossible to know the will of God if you are armed with only fragments of the truth. God has given us His Word to instruct us and to give us hope (Romans 15:4). It is not enough to simply be acquainted with your favorite parts of the Bible. It is the believer’s responsibility to actually learn, comprehend, and apply it to their life properly (James 1:22-25; II Timothy 2:15). The master deceiver, that is the Devil himself, has the power to fool the whole world and unprepared believers (Revelation 12:9). Here is an example of the Devil’s power. Jesus said, “What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean.’ ” (Matthew 15:11). Why is it that we allow our hearts to harbor wicked thoughts then quickly condemn others for what they eat and drink (Matthew continued on page 17 A Trusted Name in Funeral Service Angel Memorials Headstones Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home & Crematory 2308 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove 503-357-2161 741 Madison Ave., Vernonia 503-429-6611 Granite Markers & Monuments 971-344-3110 Jeff & Kathryn Hoyt Locally owneW in Vernonia Serving NW Oregon All Cemeteries AccepteW OrWer Wrawing at no charge online Family Owned & Operated Formerly Prickett’s Mortuary Forest Grove Memorial Chapel 503-357-3126 To sign the online guest book or to send a condolence to the family go to www.fuitenrosehoyt.com www.angelmemorialsheadstones.com Classified Ad Rates $5/month (two issues) Rideshare/Carpool Ads FREE FOR RENT Office Space - Downtown Vernonia.
