They were greatly appreciated. As of now we are both on our way to good health again. Bob & Lillian Scroggins Vernonia To the Editor, This letter is to clean up some of the misconceptions about the Scout Cabin. A lot of people still think it belongs to the City. It does not; it belongs to the Friends of the Scout Cabin. The property that the Scout Cabin sits on, including the front and back parking lots, are leased from the City. The public is allowed to use our parking areas when we don’t have a scheduled event. All maintenance, which includes blowing off the deck and front parking before each event, cleaning and scheduling rentals, has all been done by three volunteers who are now starting on their thirteenth year. This building is a high maintenance facility. Every three years the building and railings need to be re- finished, the deck every two. This is a large expense for us. Our total income for this year was $5,225.94; our expenses $5,151,53, leaving a profit of $74.41. You can see we can not pay for the work our volunteers do. 2013 Vernonia Lake Trout Stocking by Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife March 11 March 25 April 8 April 29 3,500 Rainbow 4,000 Rainbow 3,000 Rainbow 2,500 Rainbow DeLoris Webb Friends of the Scout Cabin To the Editor, On February 24, 2013 three local girls participated in the 2013 Miss Teen Portland pageant. Kortnie Adams, Jayda Pihl, and Megan Zavales were all chosen through an interview process to compete in the pageant. The 3 girls had a chance to model casual wear of their choice and formal wear of their choice. The girls went through and extensive interview processes. We would appreciate volunteers from all parts of the county. Learn more: Brianne Mares 503-397-5211 briannem@ccmh1.com Thank You! the accomplishments they made through the experience. Unfortunately they did not place in the competition, but they definitely made an impact on all girls their age to be the best you can be. We are so very proud of them. It was a great experience, and an opportunity to show beauty on the inside. All 3 of them succeeded with flying colors. This year the building, railings and deck all need to be done. Is there someone out there willing to help out? We feel that this building has been a real asset to our community, but in order to keep it going we need your help and your rentals.
