Charles Franklin Colburn Wiggins Born December 23, 1988 Died December 8, 2012 “When we’re born we cry, and when we die, the world cries for us.” - Charles, age 9 An obituary cannot capture a missing loved one, but it can list things we loved about them. Charles loved lists. Born December 23, 1988, to father Cory Colburn, mother Jenelle Wiggins, and brother Tucker Wysong, Charles spent his first days amidst family in the home of his namesake, his grandfather. This started a beautiful life surrounded by a great expansive family that extended far beyond his blood. Charles was a wild and adventurous boy who wanted to be Mogli of “The Jungle Book.” A grievous injury to his hand at age four typified Serving since 1953 Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home & Crematory Third Generation Family Owned & Operated Jeffrey and Kathryn Hoyt, Gregory and Rachel Hoyt, Samantha Humphrey, Ross Mathews, Peni Flores Attendant: Ray Pelster Gregory and Rachel Hoyt 2308 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove 503-357-2161 741 Madison Ave., Vernonia 503-429-6611 E-Mail: Fuitenrosehoyt@aol.com Website: www.fuitenrosehoyt.com Serving since 1873 Forest Grove Memorial Chapel 2308 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove 503-357-3126 Serving all cemeteries for marker sales and installation the rest of his life. He would stand out, but not be slowed down. He bounded through the woods after Tucker and his other “big brothers.” He scrapped and hustled, playing soccer with Cory. He dressed like a pirate and howled at the moon with Jenelle. At age 9, Charles lost his beloved Mother to cancer. While there is no replacement for a boy’s mother, his dad, brother, and the many who loved him, tried in their own way to fill her shoes; to care for the sweet boy. We all taught him what we could. As a little guy, one of his earliest aspirations was to be a stoker on a steam-powered ship, shoveling coal into the fiery furnaces. Although this was not meant to be, his dad taught him about woodworking and soccer. His brother exposed him to music and fashion. And his grandmother, Carol, taught him how to sew, allowing him to bring some of his stylish, aesthetic visions to life. Many countless others gave him what they could, and he soaked it up like a sponge. He knew every detail of the Titanic, Alexander the Great, Magic Cards, and the Final Fantasy games. Cory and Charles took trips to Venezuela and San Francisco Bay. Charles’ interests and web of family grew and grew. Charles, who himself was a cancer survivor, graduated from Vernonia High School, choosing to remain in Vernonia. He wanted to stay close to his friends. He wanted to be a big fish. He wanted to play with his dogs. He wanted to ravage. He wanted to be the “bad uncle” to his niece, Parker. He wanted to watch soccer with his dad. He wanted to play soccer with his “big brothers.” He wanted to make lists, lists, lists. He wanted to work with his dad and learn about woodworking. Most importantly though, Charles wanted to be there to care for his friends, be there to care for his family, and be there to care for his dad. Charles took more responsibility in the family hardwood floor business. He earned his father’s praise and shed the role of apprentice and became a journeyman. Memorial contributions, in Charles’ name would be warmly accepted at Wauna Federal Credit Union. Lynn L. Ince Lynn L.
