By “Ground Hog” The Zavales Brothers are breath- ing new life into the Vernonia Golf Club. After extensive CPR (Course Put Right) the fairways and greens are in fine shape. The ubiquitous hazards still seem to prefer my golf balls over my playing partners. However, with lessons from the ever positive Nick Zavales, I am hopeful that soon I will be able to avoid those hazards altogether. The Vernonia Men’s Club is back! This is a truly fun group of guys enjoying the challenges of golf. Young 503-901-1705 16720 Noakes Rd. Vernonia and old alike are meeting on Wednes- days, at 5:00 PM for the kind of camara- derie not seen around here for some time. Last week the sunshine brought out some of the Old Guys (60 to 86 year olds) who haven’t seen each other in years. OGA handicaps should be avail- able by the time you read this. The OGA handicap system allows us not so good golfers to compete with those that do a lot better. Come join us, regardless of your playing skills (or lack thereof).
