The Sportsman’s Banquet will be held at the Vernonia Christian Church on April 14, 2012. Vernonia’s Voice regrets this error. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Help Get Ready for the Columbia County Fair Workshop and work parties every Saturday until fair City Council Meeting Monday, March 19, 2012 - 6:00 PM Meet at 8:30 AM at the fair office City Hall Council Chambers, 1001 Bridge St., Ver- nonia, OR The Vernonia City Council will be holding a public hearing to receive comments from citizens in regard to the proposed Water Rate Study. The City of Vernonia is in the process of updating the water rate model to develop the rates for calen- dar year 2012. This public forum is to discuss the outcome of this analysis and applicable proposed rate increase. Tim Tice, Oregon Association of Water Utilities (OAWU), project manager will be providing informa- tion on the rate study planning and process. Public testimony is welcome and written statements will be received before the hearing if you cannot at- tend. To the Editor On Saturday March 24, between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Scout Cabin, we are sponsoring a Spaghetti Feast to benefit Ryan Roberts’ desperate need for a kidney transplant. Ryan is a hardworking family man in our community who needs our help, and Vernonia is known for its compassion and giving heart. A fine group of your neighbors have started a campaign to raise funds so that Ryan can have his surgeries. Chef Mario will be doing the cooking. The will be “to-go” meals available and also a silent auction will be presented for bids. The price per meal is $7.00 and all proceeds will benefit Ryan due to donations already made. So mark your calendars for March 24 th to turn off your kitchen stove and plan on an evening of good food, good company and good deeds. Thank you. Also to our church family for all the prayers. Thank you Eldonna & Grant Williams, Andrea and John Price, Sharon and Pat Rockwood, Barbara Rainbolt, Carol Senn, Carl Holsey. We are now doing home treatments and they are going great. Tournament to play the team on to a fourth place finish. Once the team won its birth into the tournament, facebook messages began to go out and people started bringing in donations to help fund students who might not otherwise have been able to go. And while in Pendleton at the pizza parlor, several Vernonians came up to me offering to help pay for the pizza if we found ourselves short.
