GORDON LEE CLINE Gordon Lee Cline, 84, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Saturday morning, September 29, 2011 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2440, 2810 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, Oregon. A Flag Honor Presentation was held under the direction of the American Legion Washington Post #2 in Forest Grove, Oregon. Family and friends were invited to attend a reception immediately following the ceremony held at the Lodge. Gordon Lee Cline was born August 14, 1927 in Vernonia, Oregon, to Merle and Ella (Burnham) Cline. He was raised and received his education in Vernonia. Being a member of the 1945 and the 1947 classes of VHS. Gordon died at his family home in Forest Grove, surrounded on September 29, 2011 at the age of 84. He joined the Navy in 1945 and served until the end of WWII at which time he returned to Vernonia to complete his education. Gordon and Mary Ann were united in marriage in Vernonia on August 15, 1948. They lived in Vernonia, Portland, Port Orford, Vancouver, WA, Seaside and Beaverton before moving to Forest Grove in 1991. He worked his entire career in the timber industry, retiring from Crown Zellerbach in 1986. Early in his career he planted trees. Before he retired he sold the trees he had planted years before. Upon his retirement they enjoyed the RV Life, traveling extensively throughout the United States. They spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ where they met and enjoyed friends from all over the US. Gordon was an expert wood- worker and made many articles of stained glass that he enjoyed giving to friends and family. He also enjoyed growing and sharing tomatoes. Gordon was most proud of his family.
