in case you missed it... 4th of July july13 2010 19 Vernonians and their friends gathered on July 4th for a new event, “The Great American Bash.” The all day event included a car and motorcycle show, live music throughout the day, a kids’ carnival complete with dunk tank and an evening family concert. The annual July 4th Parade down Bridge Street lent an air of tradition to the festivities. And of course, the evening concluded with Vernonia’s traditional fireworks display. The event was well attended and everyone seemed to have a good time, except for those folks in that cold dunk tank! July First Friday The First Friday celebration was held on July 2nd at the VCLC and Blue House Café. The Open Air Market was in full swing. Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts performed a flag retirement ceremony led by Eagle Scout Gavin Roberts. Local music legends Hobe Kytr and Dave Berge reunited and performed songs from their Dog Salmon and Rutabagas CD. Donna Webb helped kids create a First Friday Float which was featured in the July 4th parade and even Betsy Ross showed up to honor the Indepen- dence Day weekend. The next First Friday is scheduled for August 6th.
