20 vernonia’s voice august obituaries 2008 In Memory of... Charlotte L. Biermier Charlotte L. Biermier, 88, a former resident of the Vernonia commu- nity, late of Forest Grove, died Wednesday evening, June 25, 2008 at the Beehive Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove. Private Family Services will be held. CHARLOTTE L. BIERMIER was born on August 5, 1919 in Wood- stock, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harry Smith and Lucy (Barrows) Smith. She was raised and received her education in Antigo, Wisconsin. Upon her high school graduation she attended Teacher’s Normal School in Merrill, Wisconsin, graduating in 1939. She was united in marriage to Edward Charles Biermier on July 17, 1942 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Following their marriage they resided in the Rhinelander community. Charlotte was preceded in death by her hus- band, Edward in 1991, after celebrating over fifty years of marriage togeth- er. She continued living in Rhinelander, until July 5, 2004 when she moved to the Vernonia community, to be near her daughter and family. Charlotte served as a School Teacher in a one room school house in the Rhinelander area having taught 1st through 8th grade for many years, until she retired. She was a longtime member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Charlotte was also a member of the Homemaker Wonemen’s Club in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Among her special interests she enjoyed people watching, reading and eating good food. Charlotte and her husband loved nature and they raised their children to enjoy the great outdoors; fishing, camping, hunting, bird watch- ing and berry picking. She loved babies and children and was often observed smiling and talking to them and after sensing her good humor toward them they would return her smiles. Charlotte adored dancing, wearing hats and hav- ing a good time. Her sense of humor was infectious and her wit was stellar. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Myrtle Jack- son and her four brothers, Tad Smith, Lloyd Smith, Ken Smith and Robert Smith. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brian E. and Boni Biermier, of Gleason, Wisconsin; her daughter and son-in-law, Marie C. and Jim Krahn, of Vernonia, Oregon; her sister, Ruby Ament, of Wausau, Wisconsin; and her two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Reiser and Bea Ek, both of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Ivonne Solberg, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Christopher and Dawn Solberg, of Creswell, Oregon; Ben and Amy Krahn, of Corvallis, Oregon; Susan and Jason Arridondo, of Col- lege Station, Texas; Allison and Jerry Yeager, of Corvallis, Oregon; Christy Biermier, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rusty Biermier, of Gleason, Wisconsin; and eight great-grandchildren, Sean Solberg; Deandra Mae Solberg; Mikila Solberg; twins, Andrew and Amelia Solberg; Gracie Krahn; Clancy Krahn and Gabriel Arridondo; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service with Full Military Honors by the Oregon Army National Guard was held on Sat- urday, July 26, 2008 at 1:00 P.M at the Owen Family Ranch, located at 53680 Timber Road in Vernonia. Craig Headley officiated. Private Intermentl followed at the Owen Family Ranch Cemetery. KOLTON OWEN GRAHAM was born December 24, 1986 in Gaston, Or- egon, the son of Daryl Mari Owen and the late Daryl Eugene Graham. He was raised and received his education in the Vernonia community. He worked as an Apprentice Gran- ite Mason in the residential construction industry. Kolton had worked for Rose City Granite in Hillsboro and Denali Granite Company in Beaverton. Kolton was currently serving in the 41st Infantry Brigade of the Oregon Army National Guard in Hillsboro, Oregon. Among his special interests he en- joyed hunting, target shooting and he was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also loved caring for his dog, “Chief”. He was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Eugene Graham. Survivors include his mother, Daryl M. Owen, of Vernonia, Oregon; his grandparents, Bill and Nancy Owen, of Redmond, Oregon; and Lois Brown, of Vernonia, Oregon; his four brothers and three sisters, Daryl Way- land Graham, of the East Coast; Brandon Graham, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Brogan and Heather Graham; Wayland Graham and Arron Forster; Kendall Graham and Joe Muckey; Trask Zook and Brule Zook of Vernonia, Oregon. Kolton loved his nieces and nephews, Hepner, Hansom, Mellody, Nova, Sayler and Braiden. He also has many cousins. Kenneth Dean Jordan KENNETH DEAN JORDAN, age 61 of Vernonia, Oregon, died on Friday, July 4, 2008 at his home in Vernonia after battling cancer. He was a wonderful, loving father and a great man. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mono Hot Springs, California. Ken was born on February 2, 1947 in Salinas, California, the son of William Curtis and Beatrice Irma (Mallory) Jordan, the youngest of three children. He attended North Salinas High School and then went on to be- come a carpenter. He married Peggy Jewell Williams on September 28, 1968 in Prunedale, California and they lived most of their married life in Fremont, California. He enjoyed fishing and auto racing when he wasn’t working or helping others. He was a born again Christian and his favorite scripture verse was 23rd Psalms, verse 1-6; The Lord is my Shepherd. He moved to Vernonia, Oregon in November of 2005. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include; his ex-wife Peggy Jordan of Richmond, California; three daughters, Kimberly Jewel Hintz of Alderpoint, California; Monique Antonette Jordan of Richmond, California; and Kessie Dee Jordan of Es- parto, California; his brother, Leroy Curtis Jordan of Dublin, California; his sister, Linda Marie Curtis of Vernonia, Oregon. He is also survived by three grandsons, Shane Kenneth Jordan, Frank Nicholas Hintz and David Jordan Ott; his aunt, Shirley Joyce Flowers and family; his nephews, David Lee Gonzales and Duane Curtis Jordan and family; and his niece, Annette Lynn Jordan and her daughter. A Memorial service was held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the home of Art Ragsdale, in Buxton, OR. Off of Hwy 47. JOHN KENNEDY RAGSDALE was born August 24, 1949 in Long Beach, California, the son of Kennedy and Joyce (Sterrenberg) Ragsdale. He was raised and received his education in Sutherland, California. Fol- lowing high school, John joined the US Army and served during the Viet- nam War until his discharge in 1974. John was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Kent in Vancouver, Washington on February 14, 2008. John owned and operated his own logging business in Vernonia for many years. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Beaverton. Among his interests, John enjoyed hunting, hiking, going 4-wheeling and watching movies.
